Sci-Fi Film Festival |
KNOWING is being considered for
the Miami Beach Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival
which is currently
being planned for Fall, 2013. The festival plans to
work in conjunction
with the Festival of the Arts to celebrate the best in media,
movies and the arts.
Getting to Miami Beach is Easy
South Beach is one of the world's top-rated travel destinations
in the world with inexpensive domestic flights available to
both Miami International Airport as well as the Fort
Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Transfers
via the Airport Flyer Bus (which connects the plane
to the beach) start at just $2.35 per guest.
Lincoln
Road Mall stands at the very heart of South Beach, providing
an upscale shopping and dining environment that is accessible
on foot from over 2200 hotel rooms ranging in style
from simple to superior!
Ocean Drive is a short walk away, and best of all, getting around
town is as easy as hopping onto the local shuttle bus
or riding one of hundreds of beach cruiser bikes stationed
at handy rental kiosks all over town.
Celebrating Cinema: Past, Present
& Future
Film fans can enjoy our planned Retro Cinema Series
of classic
films which were painstakingly restored using the latest technological
standards of sound and visual quality and also get Sneak
Peeks at the dailies of some of the newest works currently
in production. Members of many original casts and production
crews will participate in Celebrity Panel Discussions
and our Young Directors Guild will introduce the next
generation of Spielbergs and Tarantinos to a brand new
audience. Walking Tours are scheduled throughout Art
Deco South Beach that will highlight the locations used
in many popular film and television series.
An added attraction to local film
and television production in the Greater Miami area
is the continued support of the Department of Tourism
and Cultural Development's Office of Film and Event
Production Management. Coordinating the production of
major motion pictures and television series in South
Florida, this Miami Beach-based office is located on
the grounds of the Miami Beach Convention Center at
1755 Meridian Avenue in South Beach. Fans of Burn Notice,
Dexter, and Magic City can credit the careful stewardship
of this office which works tirelessly to ensure the
growth and stability of every aspect of the entertainment
industry along the sunny shores of Miami Beach.
We're very excited about the early
planning stages of this exciting film event. Stay tuned
for future announcements concerning the Miami Beach Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival as well as related events in the arts.
